someone I know is trying to sell me a stroker kit with a "cryptonite crank" that he says is worth $2500 alone. what the heck is he talking about. ever heard of them. I searched the internet and only found one person that mentions this kind of crank but offers no other details.
It's actually spelled "Kryptonite", and it's just a trade name for a series of cranks made by LA Enterprises. Very good quality. LAE is one of the more popular crank manufacturers used by NASCAR Winston Cup teams.
where can i find more info. Is there a website you know of? This guys does have a modified race car that his son races. He told me that it is from his car with only a few hundred miles on it. I have also heard his name mentioned on the radio a few times when they are naming the winners from that weeks races. any idea what this crank might be worth? im gonna do another search for a website now.
I believe the "LA" stands for Larry Arnold. Before you walk ask if you get the harmonic balancer and what pistons are in it, most of those sprint car guys are into EXTREME lightweight and use a -12 piston or a 14 or 15 degree piston. Finding heads & an intake (that will fit under any Corvette hood and that you can afford might be a problem. Most of the sprint car guys don`t use a balancer, if this is the case it is now time to turn and run away. ...redvetracr
Kryptonite is the name of the alloy they use. The other name for it is EN30B. It is some really bad stuff. There was a good article on these cranks severla year ago in one of my car mags that went throught the entire forging and machining process.
They do produce some very light Sprint Car cranks, and some stuff for T/F.
Overall, they are some of the best cranks on the market.
