I have a 1999 C5 with 38,000 miles. I use it on the track (road course) and as a daily driver. I want to get more performance. I would like 440-490 HP. I live at an altitude of 6000 ft above sea level.
What to do???? Doug Rippie, Ligenfelter, X-treme, just to mention a few, offer engine modification packages. Is this a good idea? Should I use a local shop? What mods should I look for?
Eric, what is the money situation like? Ship your car to LPE and the only likely complaint will be from your wallet - and you'll forget about that soon enough.
Unless the road course won't allow it, at 6,000 ft elevation some form of forced induction would go a long way towards your goal.
I have seen different superchargers offered by various vendors. All claim superiority. Why do you think LPE would be best? Also, would I need to alter any other engine or transmission parts for the supercharger?
LPE specializes in late model corvettes like your C5. They are well known in the racing industry and they build reliable mods. I'm with the guys above...if you can afford it, go with an LPE package.
