Default DFI Gen VII is going in!

I've had my ups and downs with the stock gm box. I've had enough of the DOWNS...so I'm upping the ante to a full sefi gen VII DFI. I can hardly wait. Luckily I am not seeing my super ram(top and runners) get yanked off again after them only being bolted back up this past friday night(collapsed lifter repair).

It'll be nice because the guy who's tuning it goes to the trak frequently...we can do a datalog and see how everything is. I'm excited...of course my wallet isn't ;) :jester but the old saying is"If you want to play, you have to pay" Any hot rodder knows this all too well.

Just thought I'd share that.

Good luck with the Gen VII. I haven't had the chance to play with it personally since I'm a F.A.S.T. guy, but it seems to be getting good press in the 'Street Legal' magazines like "Fast Street Car" and "Race Pages".

I think once you get used to it, you'll find the current generation of aftermarket programmable engine management systems to be so much easier to use and much more flexible than trying to tune the production ECM's.

I would also definitely recommend a wide-band O2 sensor, it takes it to a whole 'nother level. It doesn't get much easier than simply typing in an A/F ratio and the ECM does it. Forget tyring to interpret inaccurate narrow-band O2 sensor voltages....

JD, are you getting an EMIC shop to do the work, or are you and your buddy doing it on the side? Trying to find an EMIC shop out here is like pulling teeth!! Most of their wesite's locations are invalid!!!

Keep us (or at least me :) ) posted on how it goes. I have the Gen VII system for my 8-stack ... but it will be a while yet before it gets fired up as there is a lot of work yet to do on the car. I've heard good thing about it but would love to have someone elses experience to suppliment things.

Answering the question:

Yes it is being installed by a reputable EMIC Installation Center. They tune anywhere from 7-11 second cars ALL The time. I'm sure it's going to come out of there running 100% as it's quite rich right now.

I'll be glad to see the stock ecm-burned chip come out.

I'll keep you posted.
