Muffler for external wastegate dump.
I would just plumb the dump back into my down pipe but my setup is a rear mount, twin turbo.
The turbos do a decent job quieting down the exhaust when the gates aren't open, but when they open everyone knows it. I put a 14" straight through bullet muffler before each turbo and its brought the sound down quite a bit more with almost no effect on my spool up. The sound is very nice and deep now but again, soon as both 38mm gates open it causes passengers to cover their ears. Plus It would be nice to hear the turbos some more at wide open, the spool up sound is like the turbo on a diesel truck with the turbos being rear mounted, that is until the wastegate drowns out everything.
So, go ahead and laugh.. but what about putting a small, straight through dirt bike type muffler or glass pack on each gate? Theres not much room which is why I mention the dirt bike muffler. I'd be looking at a cheap aftermarket one that flows well, not some restrictive OEM muffler.
Thoughts?
