I saw this engine is SuperRod a couple of months go and it is absolutely amazing. Every detail has been attended to.
This engine is the latest evolution of engines between John Meany and Troy Trepanier. I modeled my engine after their first engine in Meany's C4, but his latest engines are so much better detailed.
The story says he used titanium for the headers. I'm surprised about this because the header material suppliers like Burn's and SPD don't recommend titanium for turbo exhausts, rather 321 stainless or inconel. The titanium will probably save as much as 20 lbs because the stainless pipes and the 3/8" flanges add up to each header weighing almost 20 lbs.
Whoever edited those articles about Chicayne were lax in some places. I'd be really surprised if those were titanium.
That car is the most amazing mix of form and function that I've ever seen.
1100 hp art.
The most interesting thing to me is the engine management system. "Big Stuff III" It looks like John Meaney has another fuel injection system up his sleeve.
I'm still surprsied at the titanium headers, as I mentioned Burn's and SPD do not recommend Ti for turbo headers, but if it works, that would be interesting because the stainless steel headers are relatively heavy.
John Meany is the designer of both the FAST (SpeedPro/Felpro) and Accel DFI engine managment systems. It doesn't suprise me that he's now coming out with his own brand if that's really the case. Coincidentally, there is a new FAST EFI system in the works which is supposed to appraoch the level of performance of the high-end Motec systems. I'm curious to know if they are related at all....
In one of the captions they mentioned grade 321 titanium ? Burns doesn't list such a thing in it's catalog. The other thing that doesn't make sense is that they used Burn's slip merge collectors which are 321 stainless. I'd expect the stainless and the titanium to have different expansion rates and mess up the principle of those collectors.

Monty, can I imply from your statement, that John did not have input in the upcoming FAST system?
I don't know about that. All I know is that I was told by some people that have had input in the development and testing of the FAST systems that there is a new system in the works and it's in the Beta stage. Then I read the Chicayne article and it mentioned Meany's company is coming out with a new system. Maybe it's the same thing, maybe not. I don't know, but considering the litigation history between Meany, the preceding owners of the FAST system, and Accel DFI, anything's possible I guess.
