Newbie, so I apologize in advance if this is a basic question...
I just got(4 days ago) a new C2 corvette restomod, and it has a Holley 770 on top of a 396/375(out of a 67 camaro) which was re-built .060 over and a slightly bigger cam.
The carb is black. The spark plugs are black. I cleaned each spark plug and after only 2 miles of driving, they were black again.
Here's the deal...the previous owner said the carb has stock jets, but the squirters were changed and increased about 4 sizes. I think I just want to put it back to normal. I do not intend to drive like a maniac. I just want to have it function better and not keep fouling the plugs. I don't think I should even put new plugs in until this is resolved. My question is...what would be the proper size squirter(s) for this carb?
Thanks!!
The pump squirters shouldnt make the carb run rich. Before changing them out check your fuel pump pressure. It should be no more than around 6 to 7 psi. Then check the float levels. Take out the sight plugs and the fuel should be right below the plug openings. Once you check all this and have it running, look into the carb and see if any of the booster nozzles are dripping. Another thing to do is spray some carb cleaner into the air bleed openings along top of the airhorn. If they get clogged it will make it run rich. Also verify the choke is fully open.
