Re: Need technical specs on 1979 L82 engine (ldyoung)
Nothing special or different from any other sbc 4 bolt main engine as far as torque specs go. It should also have 76cc heads with 2.02/1.60 valves. Look in any sbc repair book.
Re: Need technical specs on 1979 L82 engine (ldyoung)
Since you're not getting much response here or the C3 section I'll throw
in what I know and am "pretty sure" about.
First, the torque specs are the same on all of that style 350s (heads, mains, rods, etc.).
There is some interesting info in the "Corvette Black Book" regarding the
hp ratings among the different years, and it does mention too that in '79
the L82 option included a "dual snorkel" air intake housing, which added
5hp even when put on the L48.
Now, from memory, the things that made the L82 different from the L48 in
the mid to late 70s were the L82 had a 4-bolt block, steel crank, "pink" rods
(which were supposedly shot-peened and stronger than the std rods),
forged pistons, a different cam, heads with 2.02" intake valves and 1.6"
exhaust (as opposed to 1.94" and 1.5"), and I believe the L82 heads
even had screw-in studs and guide plates, which would also require hardened
push rods. The screw in stud part I'm not positive about.
