Default Help with cam identification

Thanks for any help in advance

These are the numbers I see on the cam(BBC). The first set are on the shaft after the first lobe.

139606 031053

and the other set are where they normally are

4218B/4279B
R110 0
V1511-11

Don’t know about the numbers but the lobes look like a roller.

here are some pictures I took compared to a flat tap cam I had. I was told it was a solid lifter cam. But I was also lied to about a few other things. He had a gear drive that said went with it which I also have

Yes the last picture is a good comparison. The others look like a flat tappet with lobes going flat.

That is a solid roller cam. The core will be 8620. The copper coating protects the core between the lobes during the heat treating process.

I'm sorry but I really can't. I would assume, based off custom cams I've seen, the 42xxx/42xxx are lobe profiles, and the "R110" is the LSA (110). I would also assume the cam is asymmetrical, meaning the exhaust lobe and intake lobe are different. My suggestion is to take to a local speed shop or builder and have it "Cam Doctored". This is where the cam specifics are measured. Typically this is only a very small fee.

Looking in an old Comp Cams lobe book, they list the 4278 and 4279 lobe profiles in the "RZ" design. I would say this is what you have.

.266/.272 @ .050 on a 110 (.400/.380 lobe lift) The "B" indicates it is for a 1.948 journal (BBC), the "-11" indicates billet steel.

Again, "Cam Doctor-ing" it will tell you the exact numbers. Those were ground for .842 lifters.

hey I wanted to say thank you for the information and knowledge you passed on. I appreciate the help. I’m planning on looking around my area for a local speed shop to see if they would be able to look over it( cam docto-ring). Thanks again!
