I'm thinking of purchasing a AFR hydra-rev kit for my 383. I won't be seeing any rpm over 6000 but think it would help anyway. Anyone who's used one or has one please let me know what you think.
The rev kits are for people that have camshafts that go into valve float earlier than the top RPM they plan to run. If your cam is going to float the lifters at 6200 RPM but you've got it in your mind that you need to spin the engine to 7500 RPM then you need to look in to rev kits. Also they are great insurance for people in danger of over revving the engine due to a missed shift.
Yeah! That's what I think. My cam won't make much power over 6000rpm anyway and if you look into AFR's web-site there are no power gains before 6000rpm anyway. Thanks guys for your opinion. :D
Do you have a stick shift? Do you participate in srteet drag racing, or other form of motor sports where you might miss a shift? Your cam may not make power above 6000 rpm, but if you are speed shifting and miss a shift, the engine will rev quite a ways in neutral. If you have an automatic, you don't need it.
