Default roller rockers

:leaving: 96 VETTE looking to replace my rockers with 1.6's, should i change the springs also, car has 112,000 miles. 13.17 @ 104 mph car has cold air & programmer III. :U what brand suggested. :party: LT1 coll edt.

It would be prudent to check your current springs for coil bind when you shift to 1.6 roller rockers. Moveover, it would be best to test the springs themselves for fatigue at their opening & closing heights. If you can't shim the springs to their proper values, I would replace them.

If you want to retain the stock setup, I would use the Crane Gold roller rockers (self-aligning). You should also consider replacing the push rods any time you change rockers. At least inspect the end that fits into the rocker pad for abnormal wear.

You might consider purchasing the GM Hot Cam kit (cam, springs, & roller rockers) since all these components were designed to work together.

I'm not familiar with the newer generation SBC heads, but you might have to enlarge the holes in the heads to allow the pushrods to reach the cup on the higher ratio rocker... you probably already thought of this though.
