Default Cam degreeing problems

Spent a few hours degreeing the cam today. I should have left the heads off, it would have made confiming TDC easier.

The problem I am having is the cam is ground on a 112 lobe center (straight up no advance ground into the cam) I wanted to put the cam in between 112 and 110, so (after being told by Cloyes the triangle keyway on the crank is only 2 cam degrees) I put the cam in so the triangle stamped keyway was lined up with the cam gear dot. After checking the results twice with a dial indicator and degree wheel the cam came in at 120 degrees ! I am 8-10 degrees retarded from where I want to be.

I would go pull the bottom gear off, but I am already as far advanced as I can be on the keyways.

What the heck can I do :banghead:

OOPS! The markings on the ID of the crank sprocket, designate the keyways. If you want the position designated by the triangle, then that is the keyway to use for the crank sprocket to crank keyway, key. THEN line the sprockets up dot to dot (on the ODs of each sprocket) as though it were a stock timing set. It is shear blind coincidence that you would up as close as you did. You're getting close. You're almost there. Good luck, and...

RACE ON!!!

Got it fixed, the cam is at a 110.5 to 110.75 ICL. I was shooting for between 110 to 112 so I am happy.
