Default Back from the dyno, new #'s

Got the car back over to the dyno today. All numbers are at the rear wheels, through full exhaust, with mixed pump gas. 91 octane with a little lead :D works out to 94 octane.

Motor only: max was 490.7 hp (6400 rpms) and 454.5 tq (4700 rpms)

NOS Tune(.022 NOS .019 fuel 7lbs fuel pressure) 625 hp (6300 rpms) and 583 tq (4900)

I was hoping for 500 at the wheels N/A. I got pretty close. We got these numbers on the 5th and 6th pull, so maybe if the motor was a little cooler it might have made 500. I got to looking at the dyno chart and it looks like it was still making power when we shut it off at 6500 rpms. I should have reved it a little higher, oh well excuses are like butt$%#'s everyone has one.

I willl be back over there in the next month or so trying to break 500. I am going to the track on Saturday. I am going to see what I can do on street tires.

Congratulations!!

That's about a 25-30 rwhp increase right? That's not bad just from head porting and cam swap considering you already had a pretty nasty cam.

So how's the new cam acting on the street?

Did you ever run it before at the track? Looking forward to seeing results.

490 RWHP is enough to go DEEP 10's with traction and probably high 120's.That is going to be a fun ride! I suppose with street tires we'll be happy with anything in the 11's for sure if you're lucky. MPH will probably still be good though.

You going to try the spray at the track?

John,

Great numbers!!! The TQ Is down alittle I thought you would pick up more.
Did they use a wide band to check your Air/fuel.
You can find more power right there If your running lean. Letting your motor cool off helps alot, you should be at 500 with your motor cooler.
Man you picked up alot with just 022 jets. I wonder If the fogger Is that much better than a plate system. What was your bottle pressure?
That motor likes nitrous.

It is a 40 rwhp increase, but I lost 16 lbs ot Tq. I really like the new combination, it seems to have a broader tq band. Looking at dyno sheets from the two motor combinations, the new motor has a much flatter curve.

I never ran the last combination. I am hoping to go high 11's at 127 on the motor with street tires. I am still thinking about spraying at the track. It depends on how fast I get kicked out running on the motor.

My bottle pressure was 950 # I agree the motor likes the NOS, the cam I have helps with that a lot. The NOS tune was pretty conservative to make 135 rwhp. I pulled a few of the plugs and they looked real good.

Picking up 40 RWHP with a cam change and head porting Is pretty sweet
625RWHP on spray Is  Thats going to be a hand full with street tires.
I run around on 28-11.5 E/T Streets and In first gear with the new tranny with the lower first gear, I break them lose pretty easy on motor. I can't imagine what street tires would be like.
Good luck at the track, I need to get mine to the track also.

Which track are you racing at this weekend? I once drove a mid 11 second car on street tires just to "see what it would do". What it did was 13 flat because it just wouldn't hook up. Maybe by street tires you mean E.T. Street Slicks :)

Congrats on the excellent results, good luck at the track.

Nice numbers! I'm glad the cam is (apparently) working out for you. I'm very curious to hear how you like this setup as you get more seat time. As I said previously I enjoyed that cam very much as it strikes a nice balance of street manners and high end pull.

Take care,

Mark

Great numbers, John! You have got to be happy with all your hard work.

I think you will do a lot better at the track than you are predicting.

Also, there is a lot left in the NOS. To say that you are being conservative is an understatement!

Bring your car up here and we will wring it out on the DynoJet...
