Default FLAME or MSD

Hi Guy's and Gal's I am going to up grade my Ignition on my 383 and was going to the Flame Thrower Distributor but my local Scam Charger store say's that will not perform as good as a $500.00 MSD kit with a 6al. Just would like some input if the MSD is that much better thanks

George I had troubles this summer with my unilite pick up and had to get a new one for $172 plus they sell a volt surge protector for in the line for another $50 or so.
I have 4 MSD units piggy backed onto each other without problems plus a Accel super coil

I have been using the same Unilite body since the late 80's. Mallory has always been good to me. When I need to have a different advance courve they do it for free. I have had only one modual die in all these years. I do use a ballast resistor to limit voltage just like the installation calls for.

I'm running 11.2 compresion with .055 spark plug gap and I have had flawless ignition into the rev limiter at 7500 rpm. Never again would I use junk like MSD 6AL's

Might wanna check these guys out. They can build a dist to you exact specs. Helped my neighbor put one on his 73 cuda recently. Nice unit. they make them for many makes of vehicles by grafting the HEI top portion to the bottoms of other manufacturers. If you see an HEI in a Toyota, you know where it cam from. Of coarse they do the GM models too.
