Looking at the "1000CFM MPI Commander 950 Systems" o9ut of the jegs mag, they say that all you need is an intake, and you weld in the injector bungs and then the fuel rails and etc. It also has the 950 MPI commander which I think can read boost which would work pretty good for my engine when I'm ready to boost it. :D
Anyway, has anyone ever done this before? Make their own EFI INjection with a regular intake and convert it? Is it worth the trouble if you have a shop with all the tools available?
Take a look at http://www.chevytalk.org. Look at the forum called "EFI/Fuel Injection and Engine Control Systems". Do a search for "commander 950", or post your question there. There is a user names Doug F who is very knowledgeable on the Holley system.
If you are going to do that then just get one from Holley that is made like that, they have few intakes like that, here is a link to one... http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...901-101-1.html
Lot of race cars with turbos and superchargers use them but you will have a adapter for the TB, you may want to look at the Stealth Ram for the your supercharged engine.
Commander 950 looks like a good ECM for supercharger but to use it you will have to get one that has the Race version, the Com 950 with Race version will cost you about $1150.
You can run it as 1 BAR 2 BAR or 3 BAR, 1 BAR is good for N/A 2 BAR is good for up to 15 psi Boost and 3 BAR if you are going to run more then that.
Make sure you find out if you will need to go low impedance injectors or not. "I think the race version takes care of that right?. I ran a shot with trying to put my own bosses into a torquer manifold. It looked cool, but it takes an awful lot of work. Mainly trying to get the chambers perfectly smooth. Also injector angle plays a big role. For what it's worth. the 300 or so for a bare EFI intake from holley is about the best deal around. Expecially their stealth ram manifold. what is it 250 or something?? I think their single plane manifold is about the same price, but flows much better.
I'm putting my own EFI system together and just recieved the Commander 950 with the Race version update, along with the harness & all software. Doug Flynn works in the EFI dept at Holley and has a lot of hands on experience.
The Holley Stealthram is a very nice combo, just be aware that it will only accept up to a FelPro 1205 gasket ;) .
I bought my C950 kit from Dennis Fonse who also has a lot of EFI knowledge & works a lot with Doug Flynn. He had a EFI intake for sale awhile ago, not sure if he still has it available. His prices are right with Jegs/ Summit's, but he beats the others with his knowledgable service after the sale :) .
Check his site @: http://www.geocities.com/64duece/
Checkout this page on my site: http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/mik...ne/index.shtml It's got pics of the EFI intake and custom 1200cfm t-body I bought from Lingenfelter Performance. I got a great price on the t-body from LPE, so check w/ them before you order from someone else ;)
 Thats a really clean mean looking C3 :yesnod:
So the Holley EFi kit is pretty good then? I should just buy a regular intake and weld in the bungs and off I go.
Thanks :) . I just went to Dennis's site ( http://www.geocities.com/64duece/parts.html 0 & he still has this listed in the sale section: Holley SBC single plane EFI intake, fuel rails and regulator $250
This would get you your intake all setup if it's still available.
The one thing with the Holley is if you go to a supercharger later, you'll need to purchase something additional for the Commander950 to allow you to run high impedence injectors larger than 50psi if needed. this of course will all depend on the kind of power you expect to make.
Nah, no supercharger here, I want to go with either twin Turbos or one big one infront of the engine. BUt I'm pretty sure I wont need 50+PSI injectors I'll keep it tame. For a while that is
