It was a bent valve
After trying a few tuning ideas I did a compression check on #1 and the gauge did not move :nonod: So I pulled the head off and the exhaust valve is bent. I talked to the guy who does my head work and he said he can have it done today.
The only way to bend a valve is piston impact. Valve float is very destructive. Generally todays forged pistons have such deep out of the box valve pockets that you would have to have massive lift before you even have to worry about piston/valve clearance issues.
If you had the motor/heads proffessionally done I'd be on them about inccorrect spring pressures. The other thing is good sequential misfire rev limiters are worth there weight in gold. I like my Crane 6-R

agree, i'd look real hard at ALL your valves/springs (including your choice of springs/related hardware, and clearances..... one cylinder had a problem, why shouldn't another later??... keep looking till you come up with a root cause ! (you were lucky this time, consider it a warning)
AND regarding the rev limiter, I totally agree! , great investment if you're going the race (you know how it is during the "heat of battle" :-)
