Good to see a piston engine in the winner's circle after all those years! I was working for Pay`N Pak when they built the first successful turbine boat. It wasn't as much the promise of better performance as it was the lack of availability of those fighter engines that prompted the switch. Most of the engines had been used up and they were dragging river and lake bottoms to salvage engines from boats that had sunk years before. When Lucero proposed building a new boat using a military surplus helicopter engine there were a lot of naysayers but he proved them wrong.
