The mech who built up my 700R4 Trans for racing also worked for a major player in racing trans technology.
He told me if I wanted a crispy gear change I should use Ford Type "F" trans fluid since it applies more pressure to the clutches with minimal slippage.
I was wondering if any of you guys out there are running the Type "F" fluid and how much more bang into second gear are you getting?????? :steering:
Re: Ford Type "F" Trans Fluid? (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
I've used Type F in serious rebuilt trans with the good linings on a regualr basis. For lack of a better description, the old Type F is considered to be a "High Impact" fluid and Dexron was a "High Lubricity" fluid. Originally it had to do with the type of friction materials used, but most aftermarket stuff accepts Type F just fine.
Can you really feel it? I doubt it, but the most impotant thing is how the linings like having a less slippery fluid when they apply. That has to add up to a slightly firmer shift along with less slippage and heat.

I would use it in your trans.

Thanks,
That's about how he explained it....Second will cause the tires to break loose when it up shifts. Sounds good when second breaks the tires....like it was a standard upshift. :steering:
