Default BBC vs forced induction GenII...

Hey all--
I want to dramatically boost the power in the car, and was thinking about rebuilding the LT1 and adding a ProCharger or turbocharger(s). Then I started adding up the cost. For what it would cost me to do this, I could build a big block. I could even get one of those Ram Jet 502's! Granted, the big block would be signifcantly heavier, but the forced induction would add to the weight of the LT1. I could also use an aluminum block for the BBC (probably not the ZL1 block, but something aftermarket). I am not superconcerned with mileage, but it is a street car. I looked at the Edelbrock fuel injection for the BBC as well. I want to maintain creature comforts such as AC, power steering, and power brakes. Currently, the AC is not even in the car, and I would need a custom system fabbed up for either motor. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

BBC vs forced induction?

The BBC is going to be more reliable because there are less parts involved.

But you can get BBC #'s with forced induction on a SBC.

Why not do both, build the Big Block and run some nitrous though it. :D

For deep down grunt the blower is hard to beat. It gives almost maximum boost regardless of rpm. Even at 1200 rpm I can get 10 pounds of boost. Try that with the supercharger or turbo. The blower is easy to install but the downside is this hole in the hood but the image factor goes way up.
I have had my blown bigblock for 4 years now and haven't found a down side. Of the 3 I feel for my driving it is the best. No boost lag and you can lug it at 1200 in 5th overdrive and the motor pulls strong.

If you have the $$$. Go for the Ram Jet 502. With the neat injection that comes with them a truly nice packaged setup. The aluminum heads immediately remove 75 lbs as opposed to the cast iron heads on the BB which helps. I`m seriously considering the same engine for one of my early Camaros. Easy HP.
