Hello everyone,
I am considering using the Comp Cams High Energy 268 cam in my 72 Vette. The rest of the engine(planning stages only so far) will be a 350,mildly ported 487x heads, approx 9.0-9.25 compression, performer intake,headers...etc. Has anyone else used this cam and if so, what are your thoughts on it? I am looking for a little more power than stock, and a noticable idle(like everyone else). This is a weekend driver not a race car.
I ran the HE 268 in my 355 with stock heads and headers for about six years.Ran strong enough,no "idle" per say,but would pull to 5500 rpms.If I were to do it over I'd go with a milder cam like the Performer,at least for a stock engine.I run that cam before in other 350 sized engines and it pulled harder off idle, and still hit 5500 on top.I would think that the shorter cam duration would be the better choice for a low compression street engine.
