Anyone care to comment? I'm thinking about playing with a set of fully cnc'd Track-1's. Anyone here use Brodix or are we all sold on AFR? I'm revamping my 383 with more compression and a solid roller. The goal is all out NA performance with 100 octane or less.
my 406 made 28hp more with AFR's than another identical 406 with Brodix heads. that was on the same dyno with the same carb and jetting, two day difference, but air quality was the same. i guess it all depends on the price and flow numbers from different port work, either should make you happy. Buy the heads with the most flow at .600 lift for the dollar. But there are other little nice things to think about. Like how tall is the outside oil return casting on the head? How do the front and rear oil returns look, because you want the best oil return as possible? How tall are the stock valves?
It's really nice when they say +.100 valve length and out of the box .700 lift for roller cams. What's the max valve size the heads can handle?
I can't say from personal experience, but I built my 406 for "street driving" and chose my 195's because the flow was better than most, yet the port size was smaller. This means low end torque advantage over a bigger port, and seat of the pants acceleration that can't be matched with a big port.(Unless you run a high stall converter to compensate.)
Of course if you run 7000 rpms at the track the bigger the better, but if you drive on the street, smaller is definately better.Just my .02.
FWIWI I called Brodix and spoke with them directrly when building my first 406, they told me the T-1's were too much head for my 406 but,,,, I told them I wanted a mild 406,,, so I am anxious to see how this turns out.
KM,I have brodix track1,with shaft roller rockers on my 383,i have 9.5 comp and run on standard unleaded pump gas,my heads were heavily worked and i have a good long tube header system......i have 348hp at the wheels(whick i am told is 450+ hp at the flywheel)...i was not looking for outright power and deliberately have a fairly conservative flat tappet cam...the advice i had was that i could get anor 50 to 75hp just with a more radical roller cam but with a significant loss of street driveability...if that is correct then i guess i would have a 500+hp engine...john :chevy
apparently the brodix T1 heads were redesigned last year, so they flow alot better than the old T1.
from what I've been hearing they are as good as the AFR210's or better, but I have not seen any independant tests yet.
I don't think you could go wrong with either one, especially with CNC versions.
BTW I couldn't find the part number for that thermostat. sorry

I had an older set of T1's that didn't flow much better than my Sportman II's, so I decided to sell them & go with the 210 AFR's which flowed much better than the "old" T1's I had. It was amazing how much more the AFR's flowed at low lift numbers also. This is probably not the case though if your looking at NEW T1's :)
