Default Engine Ident(help)

Hi all,

Ive posted this in the c3 general area aswell.

Im trying to figure out what engine I got in my car.

Block casting= GM 40 3970010

number in front of head (passenger side) was very hard to read but I think it was= ???213CHC and 15S22398?.
The engine is not the original and I dont know what car it came out of?
I would really like to know if this engine is worth building on or I should get a new crate engine?

The block casting number indicates a 350 cid engine. I believe that casting came as both 2 and 4 bolt mains. Hopefully someone else will have more. I think a more detailed answer is in the "CHC". Good luck, and...

RACE ON!!!

CHC could be a 75,76 350 corvette engine or a 78 350 camaro engine :chevy

Hi

Thanks for your inputs!

I just pulled the oilpan today to make sure, sad to say it is a 2 bolt :(

Must have come out of an 78 camaro.
