Default Newbie balancing questions

Just wondering.
1) If a short block is externally balanced with a flexplate and you want to put on a flywheel you will need to re-balance right?

2)Internally balanced same swap as above...still need to re-balance?

3)Rough estimate on having a short block balanced.

Thanks!

1.) Not necessarily. If the flexplate is just a stock 400 sbc, then the stock 400 flywheel ought to replace it. One caviat, however, the 168 tooth 400 flexplate works fine on Corvettes. The 168 toothed flywheel won't fit inside a Corvette bellhousing. See if the shop can match the flexplate imbalance to the new flywheel.
2.) Not if both are truely in balance. If the old one is, just make sure the new one is, or have it done. On an internal balance job, the damper and flywheel/flexplate are non-factors.
3.) $180.00 - $250.00 ???

RACE ON!!!

Sweet! Thanks CFI!
Thats within range, I think it should be good to go, but I wanted to make sure a balance job shouldn't be too far out of $$$ range.
