Bench testing engine

I need to check an engine before I install it in my truck. Is it ok to run it with the clutch bolted on without the trans? Also, will the fuel inj ECM operate with 12v, or do I need 13.6v?

You may need a few guys to help hold it down, but running it without the trans won't hurt anything. 12 Volts will work fine.

Thanks CFI - I was concerned that the clutch disc may slip btwn the pressure plate and go off-ballance.

I have run many hours on my run stand with no trans and have not had a problem.

If you're afraid the clutch disc may slip with no load on it, I'D be afraid to bolt a trans up to it. If the clutch is in THAT bad of condition, it's going to come off before you put it in anything, anyhow.
