Have a 87 2 bolt Hyd Roller block getting ready to prep
out for 383 buildup.
A reputable store online advertising splayed main caps for
$80.00. They are Eagles. Seem kinda cheap to me, any advise
on them.
They are the three center caps.
Are they new or used?? Might be an issue if they have already been line bored....if not the 4 bolt splayed caps are way better than those dumpy 2 bolts you have now
That seems like a great price. You might check with a machine shop on the cost to install. I'm sure installation will run more than that. But you probably knew that.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Is that Eagle as in Eagle crank and rods or is that Lucky Eagle from overseas
Seriously they are just machined slabs of metal and they shouldn't be too expensive, as stated above check out how much to install them, holes have to be precision drilled and then line honed will cost way more for the machining than the caps themselves.
Ask yourself if you really need them, what horsepower are you planning on getting from hydraulic roller ?
Thanks for replys,
And yes, they are made by the same company as makes
the stroker crank and rods.
Looking at 475-500 HP with a 10.8-11.00 comp motor.
Miniram. 190cc Alum heads, ect.
Getting close to pushing stock 2-bolt I think and since
caps were this cheap would justify going splayed 4-bolt.
Just curious as if anyone had used these caps before.
Any more input appreciated.
