The little bit of gasket material that I can see along the point where the intake manifold meets the head always seems "wet" with oil, on both sides. Is this normal? If not, what would cause this to happen? I have wondered if it is from excessive crankcase pressures, but I have a functioning PVC valve as well as the tube to the air cleaner on the other side, and there are no leaks from any other places sealed with gaskets. Another car I owned had excessive crankcase pressure, and it caused leaks from every gasketed joint on the motor, so this "wetness" has me stumped.
Ya Wayne, Greg put the intake on. Both sides are wet, and none of the plugs threads appear wet, at least from what I remember. I will have a look at them again. Also, I already re-torqued the intake bolts down, thinking they were loose.
Besides the obvious, it could be from the valve cover gaskets. Actually, I wouldn't expect a valley leak to wick up that high. I think most of the oil would go straight to the intake, before it got up there.
