Question, oil pickup placement?

Question, oil pickup placement?
I bought a Champ claimer oil pan for street/drag racing no kickouts, 7-3/4" deep, one trap door. Part # CP50
They said I can use the stock SBC "round scoop" oil pickup and let it rest on the pan floor. I will use some JB weld to keep it in place after I press it into the pump.
The stock pickup is out in front of the pump and in the middle of the pan, is this an OK spot,,,, or am I over thinking this?
Edit, I found an aftermarket pickup that I like better than the stocker, nevermind
