Default WTH happened

i have bought or orded this whole combo.
this is what i have either ordered or received so far

454 2 bolt block converted to 4 bolt bored .60 over
SCAT Lightweight ProComp 4.25 stroke Crank
Scat Upgraded H beam 6.385 con rods
Pro Topline aluminium 360cc port modified heads
Isky 1.75 steel roller rockers
Schubeck Roller X lifters
Modified Offy Dual Quad 360* med rise manifold 1 inch carb spacers
2 660 Holley center squirters.
I'd like to make at least 650HP by 6500.
what do you think?
going to be using flat top pistons for about 9.75 -10 comp so i can run on pump gas

talked to Isky tech, they gave me this cam but i haven't ordered it yet.
Isky solid roller cam 680/680 262/272 110 LC 107 IC

plugged it into my DD2000 and it fell on its face. compared to a big crane roller and almost every other roller i plugged in. any ideas?

A lot of high $$$$ parts! But not nearly enough compression for the type of HP your after unless you put a pair of turbochargers on the sucker.

HHmmm, I do not know about the DD2000, but you should probably run more compression; that is a pretty big cam and will bleed off some cylinder pressure. Those heads are pretty big also. 305's to 320's would be better. A 496 will need some rpm to take advantage of those heads. Those heads would support 7500+ in a 496 it may be pretty soggy in the bottom end. I do not know if the intake and carbs will support the rpms the motor will need to make any power. To be frank it looks pretty mismatched to me.

What kind of tranny and gears ?

ah well, guess i won't be able to use that setup. to bad i really liked the way it looked. i scratched the idea of using this engine in my vette and am looking fior an early 60 gm sedan, that i can tubb and do the whole works to. i used to drag race motorcycles and decided to build something i can take bracket racing and the occasional saturday night cruise. I will basicley put in whatever rear end and tranny that suits the engine.

What size valves are the heads running?

Only reason I ask... Your picking up a valve 1.190 (680 x 1.75... I think thats correct to add the rocker ratio in to the equation!) To my small block minded brain, that sounds like a bunch.

A blower, which one? That will take care of any soggy bottom end problems

Wonder if his heads will flow enough to take advantage of the blower...

No problem there, those Protopline heads are very good heads, especially with those huge ports. A pump gas 496 with those heads could make 850 hp pretty easy

What is the rest of the set up going to be, carbs, cam, etc. I hope Isky did not tell you to use that cam with a blower. That tight of an LSA will blow half the intake charge out the exhaust pipe.

nope, Ron iskendarien is working the specs out for the blower cam. figure he'll call back by tuesday. guess i have more to work out. i had a set of 660s but think i will need more carb for the engine now. thats my next call. i'm reading and asking questions , trying to get this doped out. remeber, i don't have a car for this anymore. I still need to find the right machine to put it in.

The same specs other than a wider LSA should be great, maybe a 114 or so.

Your going to run into problems you have not even thought about. With a 871, 10-1 is too high, 8.5 is more realistic at 18% overdrive for more air. Make sure the blower rotors are tefloned. A few things to make an attempt on making it bulletproof, something better be "O" ringed too. Heads or block or you will be risking blown head gaskets. Using a roller cam, you should also ask Isky about his rev kits. And a good gear drive helps if it`s ever backfired. A stud kit for the rockers and one to hold the cylinder heads also. Your either going to have a lot of fun or gobs of misery. But with the right components and set up correctly, "lots" of power.

I took it for granted he was going to lower the compression. If he tunes it for pump gas there is no need to O-ring, just good gaskets. I see no need for a rev kit either, I know lots of guys that run big blocks well past 7500 without a rev kit. Studs are insurance but not needed for pump gas.

i'm gonna be running low compression, weiand recomends 7.5 ,when i get the exact specs on the isky cam i'll run it through the DD2000 myself just cause.I'd rather avoid rev kits and stud girdles as i want the power peak low enough not to really need them and they are just another thing to complicate the situation. i use studs whenever possible just cause.i haven't decided about o ringing the block or not. this engine has gotton the worst case of mightaswells as anything i've ever built. still i'm over $10K and everytime it's "well whats a few hundred more gonna hurt at this point". yea I know there will be problems but i have the time to work on them. this has been another learning experiance and it has a long way to go.
hey why gear drive.

The 8.5 compression is what I ran with the 18% overdrive and set several National and World records on gas while using Isky proto type cams. The secret was really the compression while others were using 7.1 and I drove right past them. I even ran a Isky roller once to see if there was a difference but too much junk to break and went back to the flat tappet grinds.

PS, Did I forget to mention the engines? Oh yes, 392 and 454 Chryslers,

I tend to over build stuff my self. I just bought a Powerglide rated for 2000 hp, when the most I will ever throw at will be 1400, maybe 1500. The car is only certified for 7.50 and should do that with around 1300. Would be fun to crank it up once to see what it will run though.

Good luck with the blower motor, roots blowers are killer on the street.

Panchop.First off gear drives are junk, plain and simple dont use them.Dont bother with o ringing, not needed til past 25lbs of boost with modern tolerances and head gaskets.Your compression can be dropped to 9.0 to 1 with a fatter head gasket, copper probably, sce makes good ones for the street.A little more comp on the street makes for a better responding blower motor on the street. No need to spin it more than 1 to 1, same number of teeth on top and bottom pulleys if you didnt know. This is going to be street driven no need to go past 6000 6500 max.All your power will be in the midrange where you want it.No fancy valvetrain is required and just a waste of money. You could use a couple of holley 4150 850dp for good results.Set timing at 18 to 22 initial and max 32for general set up.Put on a good flexplate/flywheel as blower motors like to tear them up.Put on the best flowing exhaust you can. These are my opinions from decades of trial and error,im sure others will probably disagree.Ironcross. Those aa/gas cars I bet were a wild ride.I always wanted a ****** gasser.I assume those old records were on race gas? modern technology has changed some of the rules on building blower motors.I respect your knowledge and experiance.
