Fuel injection system advice
1. Edelbrock Pro-Flow/Tuner
2. Accel DFI with Pro-Ram or Super-Ram
3. Holley Commander
So I'm looking for advice from anyone who has experience from conversion in general or has used any of the mentioned kits.
- Which one is best suited for my big block?
- Advantages and disadvantages between the kits?
- Any other system to consider?
Some specifications on my Corvette
Engine: Chevy BB 454 LS7, (new 1990). Aluminum D-port heads
Gearbox: TH400
Ignition: MSD 7 A12
Camshaft: Comp Cam 288AR-10
Distributor: Accel
Manifold: Team G
Carburetor: Holley 1050 AD
//CT (Sweden)
I put one on my 73 Chevy truck and I guarantee you it never run so good.
Very responsive,very smooth,great 'driveability'.
Parts are readily available the nearest part store in ANYTOWN.USA.
Parts are CHEAP,CHEEP,CHEAP.
It's an easy conversion too.
It's had a lot of engineering dough spent on it, it will diagnose itself and it can be tuned with a cheap laptop computer.
And it looks ku-elll besides running GREAT.
I used the 727 Weatherpack ECM and mounted it out under the hood.
It's another kew-ell looking part.
EDIT: WHOOPS ... BIG BLOCK.... Ok
ACCELL SUPERRAM.... you STILL can use all the GM ECM and control system to run that... it's same as a TPI just fits a the BBC.
Are you sure you wouldn't even let this system 'make the list'?
Only drawback is the $3200 price tag.
Zwede has one on his big block that should be similar to what you could use. The Holleys have tons of features and are an excellent value for the price. The biggest modification will be to the manifolds and the fuel system (higher pressure).
Here's Zwedes site with some good photos...
