I purchased a 68 corvette "439" motor in November out of Washington State. At the time of purchase I told the freight company the engine weight was 550 to 600lbs. The freight company just sent me an additional freight bill of $213.00. They claim the engine weight was over 800lbs.
To dispute the additional weight charge, the freight company is requireing that I come up with a GM documentation stating the dry weight of a 427 engine.
I need help in providing this info. Where can I go to find this info?
Call Salee or Scogin Dickey or one of the Chevy parts houses and ask the shipping weight on one of their BB crate engines. The actual weight can vary a lot depending on what accessories you had installed/removed and how much the crate/pallet weighs.
