Motor pics
Here is the pig we took out. # matching SBC. It still ran but the tranny was dust. We rebuilt the turbo 350 ourselves too, but we didnt get any pics. Here is the motor. The state of Kale-fornia and the Goobernator Anhold make us go to the smog ****'s back to 1976
So it has to be bone stock to pass the visual and the sniffer.

Todays progress.
Old man winter sure makes it tuff to stay motivated. Christain (my son) block sanded the guide coat on thr rear quarters and rear bumper. Im still trying to resurect the hood. Its getting close. This was our first guide coat so we have found alot of repairs still. Both doors still have issues along the beltline.

All the Pontiacs had the "Radial Tuned Suspension" badge back then.
That is such a cool dash. Something the "Trans Am Concepts" based on the 5th Gen Camaro have totally missed.
Looking forward to more progress on the restoration!

We have been working on this on and off for 4 years like I mentioned earlier. Last summer we were doing body work on the car outside on the patio. We were going to be taking a break on it and I didnt want the car to rust. So I shot a gallon of Hy build primer on it. I knew I still had lots of body work. Ive been working on it this week after work. So today Sat. is the fist chance I realy got to take a good look at it. There are more issues with the body than I had remembered.

When you resurect the old hot rods the bodywork seems like its never ending. Vettes are so much easier to paint. Going black all the bodywork has to be dead on.
I worked all day on both doors on the belt line. These beltlines have to be perfect or it will lot horrible. I took the air file to them today and layed another thin layer of bondo to make sure them lines are straight.
I also worked on the front driver corner.
Getting closer.....

Had a very productive weekend getting alot of issues cleared up. But there are still many more. Bodywork can be time consuming and the car doesnt look much different in the pics yet. I worked on the rear of the car today. I removed the back bumper again.
The origanal bumper on the car was torn down the middle. We got this one on ebay. I sand blasted the front and back bumpers to get all the layers of paint off.
The rear of this car was hit also. I reworked the metal where the fender bolts up. Much better

I removed the fin and finished up the body work on this side. It was smacked real hard on this corner. I also found another dent down by the bottom of the wheel well.

So where we are now.
This side is looking pretty good. I applied a thin coat of catalized glazing putty on the door and fender. When I get this sanded out, I think this side will be ready for another guide coat.
This side is ready for another guide coat also. Im going to give the whole car another guide coat with catalized hy-build.
Its starting to look pretty good. Next round of guide coating im sure will reveal more body work need attention.
