great job on this build. When I was in HS my dad and I rebuilt a 74 nova. That was some of the best memories I have with my dad, so I decided to do the same thing with my middle daughter and her and I are rebuilding an 85 Vette. Mike you have done a great job on this thanks for all of the updates.

This weekend we are going to work on the rear headlight assy.'s and getting them in place and start working on the honeycomb wheels. We need to repair some wiring in the engine compartment

We are at the stage now with Christian starting at BYU 10 days after he graduates from Hi School we wont have much time left until he goes.

Here is a pic of the wheels. They are realy cool wheels that came on these cars.

Thanks for asking.

Wow it has been a while since I have been able to catch up on this thread but WOW!!

Its the Bandit.

Christian, that car is beautiful!!
You are a lucky man to 1) have a dad like that, 2) to have a car like that, and 3) to be going to BYU

You should look at getting a custom plate like
"bandone"
or
"bandit"

I think thats the plate from the Smokey and the Bandit movies

Either way this thread kicks azz and hopefully that car will too

All I know is I wanna comb my hair in that paint hehehe
MIRROR FINISH!

WAY TO GO MIKE!!

Hey everyone, thanks for all of the comments on the car and byu, I got to work on one of the wheels over the weekend and i'm here to post the report

Saturday was when most of the action took place, I cleaned the spare snowflake with some steel wool and then masked of the flat surfaces, getting it ready for paint

and here's some pics of the results.

1 down, 3 to go

I did this exact thing to my snowflake wheels in 1988. They came out great. I had them clearcoated after i took the tape off the tops. The wheels actually make the car.

I did a set of 89 Iroc rims the same way you are doing these. Came out looking great!

I also did a set of SS 14" steele 5 spoke wheels. Got a stencil kit from Year 1. Took about 2 hrs per wheel, but everyone kept asking me where I got new versions of the old wheel!

Default Well, its been a while

It's been a while since we've last posted anything, and we still don't have much to post now. Work slowed down significantly since we got the paint on the car. I've just been working on the wheels and just barely got another one done. Its got the tire on, so the pics are a bit different from the past photos, but not much. I forgot to upload them to my computer when I took them so next time I get a hold of the camera I'll post them.

So heres what it looks like with the tire, this wheel and the other two will go through the same process of polishing with steel wool, masking, and painting as the bare rim; however, they also will be treated with some industrial strength paint stripper to get the old paint off.

without masking

and without flash
