Default 63 SWC Interior Dyes

I would like to dye the door panels, dash and headliner of my 63 SWC. The color is saddle tan and I have heard that the SEM materials are good. When I go on their website, I don't see a 63 Corvette saddle color. Does anyone know the actual description I should be looking for? Do I use the same saddle color for all of the interior?

thanks in advance,
JIm

If I'm not mistaken, the Vette Vues C2 Fact Book by M. L. Dobbins lists the trim color codes for the C2s and the amount of flat which had to be added for each color. You should be able to take those codes to your SEM dealer and get a match.

If your SEM dealer has color chips (mine does), take a piece of your tan trim with you and match the color.

I would be wary of using a generic "saddle" since there are several shades of "saddle."

If the interior parts have been replaced...even though they were supposed to be of a specific color code....they might be off-color (no pun intended). SEM colors are made up to a specification provided by the manufacturer. That being said, manufacturers and, probably, SEM can make mistakes. Your best bet is to find other "original condition" cars that have the same color code interior to make comparison. If your interior color (actual color) is correct, you can take an interior piece in and have the color scanned and a dye made up to that.
My point here is to make sure that you know exactly what it should be before you re-dye your interior.
