I'm not sure if I was clear with my question, my car does have the chrome distributor cover and wire shielding. The part I am questioning is the small two piece points shield inside the distributor. Both my 71
Z28 and my 72 Camaro SS have this pain in the a#@ shield but my 72 LT-1 Vette doesn't. Did the Corvettes use this part or did the external shielding negate the need for internal points shielding? Thanks for the help, this is my first plastic car after a lifetime of Camaro's

Actually you question was pretty clear, I should have paid closer attention.

Thanks guys. I can't believe I'm actually going to put one of these back on a car. I must have thrown a dozen of them away back when I worked at gas station in the 70's.

That's probably what happened to the one on your 72...tossed. They did come in two pieces. Here's a pic of one side. I wouldn't bother with them unless your going to have your car judged.
you mean to tell me some jerk off judge is going to remove the dist. cap to see if the shields are there?!?!?!?!? People really need to re-evaluate their lives..............................B

No, they're going to ask the owner to lift the little dist window to see if the shield is there......and only if the car came equipped with a radio.
You've got some attitude.....why do you look and post in "Factory Correct Restored" if you feel that way?
Wellllllllllllllllllllllllll, some of us care about being correct, but not having some numb-nut tell you that the castle nut on your tie rod end is not oriented right and the cotter pin is bent 3 degrees off from factory!!!!
Goes back a long way with me, I entered the show at Carlisle, which was sponsered by the local Vette club. I was one of 3 cars in the category, the other 2 were not close to stock (cragars, custom paint, etc.) and my car was bone stock to the numbers, although it had original 20 yr old paint (69 BB). The judge, a local club jitbag, told me my headlamp covers were not aligned properly and the T-Top gap was off. GEEEEEEEEEE, guess who got 3rd out of the 3 due to the fact I wasn't a member of "their" little Vette club?!?!?!?!?!?! From that point on car clubs and especially vETTE clubs gain no respect from me, especially this BS judging crap. There, you asked!!!!
Sounds like you have a very nice original 69 and had every right to be pissssed off....I would be too!!
But don't take one bad experience and say every judged show is like that especially an NCRS show where you car is judged against a standard not another car in the show.

What makes you think he has a Corvette? He hasn't filled out a profile. Maybe just a dreamer.
