carb date verses engine build date
I have a 67 400 HP 427 with auto trans. The engine was cast on April 18- 67 and assembled on May 17th, and installed in the car on 16 June. The front and center holly's are dated 721. The center carb is a correct 3888 very rare for an automatic transmission. The carb was assembled in the first week of February, and the engine assembled 3 months later. Does this fall into the correct dating carbs vs engine. I was told by a vett man that there were so very few 3888 carbs made that the dates could be this long. One of the main reasons I am asking is that I can get a 3888 carb with a 751 date, that is ist week of May and my engine build date is 17 of May. Would that be more correct, or is the carb I have now OK. Roger Orton
