For Donelly mirros: 9 - DMI - 1

4............month (April)
DMI.....Donelly Mirror Inc
1............year

For Ajax Mirrors: D - AX - 71

D...........month (April)
AX.......Ajax Mirror Company
71...........year

Think the same basic coding was used for all C3s, but as you can see the date coding system is different depending on who supplied the glass. The AX mirror month codes are A-Jan, B-Feb, etc. The correct assembly line mirror heads were 5 3/8" x 3 7/8", service replacments were 6 1/4" x 3 3/4".

FWIW. The DMI code format, MM DMI Y, works on a '63 as well.
