Well, at long last the 60 is almost done and it is time to think about the possibility of flight judging for the car. I was considering Nevada in march and Nationals in August, but just can't talk my self into spending the money for an enclosed trailer. Does anyone know of a place in central/south Texas which rents enclosed trailers? paying storage every month on a trailer that only gets used once or twice a year doesn't make much sense. Also the money that I would spend on a trailer, I could put that new Art Morrison C4 chassis under the 59! I would appreciate any leads . John
Yea John, I know what you are saying, but I just don't know if I am ready to take off across the contry in the middle of August in a car with the original 40 year old radiator in the 100+ degree temp! I would get just as many points if I trailered it to LA and drove it the rest of the way! I just can't quite bring myself to do this to a perfect car right out of 3 years of restoration. After a Duntov award I will probably drive the wheels off of it. The problem is that in order to have it judged at nationals, I would have to go to Nevada to qualify, which means two trips across the dessert. Last time I made this trip was 3 years ago to pull the car out of an old garage in the high dessert of California, and it was one hell of a drive!
Why not contact Passport Transport, or Intercity Lines, etc....one of the collector car "moving" services and have the car delivered to the meet. It's been done before. You should see the transport companies delivering the cars at Bloomington and at many of the NCRS Nationals. To tow an enclosed trailer, you need a big rig. You'll be pulling about 7000+ pounds, far beyond the capabilities of just about anything but a Suburban or Excursion. Chuck
Yea Chuck, I looked into that when I went to pick up the car 3 years ago and it was $1500 one way from CA! If I went this route I could buy a trailer and damn near give it away after these 2 shows and still come out ahead. As for the tow Vehicle, where I live you are not truly considered a citizen unless you have a big 'ol truck. If I have to I will haul it on an open trailer, but that pretty much precludes me from doing anything but driving straight through. I couldn't even begin to sleep at night if the car was sitting outside in the parking lot unsecured! In my old racing days, I had parts stripped off my car in the hotel parking lot more than once.

Wow, that's expensive. Have a buddy who bought a 32 Ford street rod from the LA area. Had it shipped back to Baltimore for about $500.00 via one of the "transporters". This was a "regular delivery"...no set delivery time....it would arrive "sometime during the week of XXX". For $1500.00 one way, I'd buy a box trailer too. Chuck
