Default A/C Compressor Label

Does anyone know how to read the label on an original air conditioning compressor? Specifically the date code. I have one that is 082401. I 'm not sure how to read it and I could not find anything in any of the literature I have. The NCRS tech manual does not address it. Thanks.

Date Code??? What date code? There ain't no date codes on compressors! :D

Bob, my original compressor for my 7/30/70 build is dated (Code No.?) 072101. My best guess is that the compressor build was July 21 [0(721)01] of 1970 [0721(0)1] on the first shift [07210(1)]. This would be consistent with the very close to build dates on many components on this car...only nine days before the car was built.

Following this format, your date would be August 24, 1970 on Shift 1. Do you perchance have, or is this compressor off, an early 71?

Mon Chuckster, why yes this compressor is off of my D27 build date '71. That works out to November 27th 1970 for the build date. It is concsistent with the other dates on the car. I purchased the Vette in June 1972 from the original owner. The starter and alternator both have August dates as does the glass. The earliest dated component is July '70. I just could not figure out how to read the date code. I assumed it was August 24, 1970 and probably th efirst shift, but I was not sure. Your expert wisdom and in depth knowledge has confirmed it! :) I had not seen anything in any of the literature I have to show how to read the tag. By the way Chuck, are you going to the NCRS nationals? If so I have a motel that is much cheaper. Run by a guy named Bates--real nice views! Thanks for the help on the tag.

Your expert wisdom and in depth knowledge...
Man, there is a smelly brownish-green river running through here TODAY! Whaddayoowant anyway? :bs :bs :bs

By the way Chuck, are you going to the NCRS nationals? If so I have a motel that is much cheaper. Run by a guy named Bates--real nice views!
Yeah, I've heard of that place...the best views were of his mother, who even at eighty-something, could still make these young whippersnappers howl. She's a "Honky-Tonk Woman"...throws'em over her shoulder and takes'em upstairs for a ride (Rolling Stones)...They check out, but they never leave (The Eagles). :reddevil :reddevil

Bob, thanks for calling my attention to the compressor date code. Between the two of us, we were able to use information from our original cars to confirm something. Glad I was able to help. If we are right, we still don't know that the preceding "zero" is not the year, but I suspect it is a filler digit. ;)

Not only are you a manof Corvette wisdom :yesnod: , but also you contain a plethora of modern rock musical knowledge :D . I am truely impressed by the breadth and depth of your fathomless intelligence  .

Actually I'm glad we could figure something out on the date coding on the A/C of these beasts. I agree that it looks like a filler code of some sort.

As far as the brownish-green river, the Trinity ain't looking to good this time of year :U .

See ya later Dude

BABY YOU'RE A RICH MAN
Lennon-McCartney
from MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR album

How Does it Feel to Be One of the Beautiful People?
Now That You Know Who You Are,
What Do You Want to Be?
And Have You Travelled Very Far,
Far as the Eye Can See?

How Does it Feel to Be One of the Beautiful People?
How Often Have You Been There,
Often Enough to Know?
What Did You See When You Were There,
Nothing That Doesn't Show.

Baby, You're a Rich Man,
Baby, You're a Rich Man,
Baby, You're a Rich Man, Too.
You Keep All Your Money in a Big Brown Bag Inside a Zoo;
What a Thing to Do!
Baby, You're a Rich Man,
Baby, You're a Rich Man,
Baby, You're a Rich Man, Too.

How Does it Feel to Be One of the Beautiful People?
Tuned to a Natural E,
Happy to Be That Way?
Now That You Found Another Key,
What Are You Going to Play?

Baby, You're a Rich Man,
Baby, You're a Rich Man,
Baby, You're a Rich Man, Too.
You Keep All Your Money in a Big Brown Bag Inside a Zoo;
What a Thing to Do!

Baby, Baby, You're a Rich Man, Too.
Oh, Oh,
Baby, You're a Rich Man, Ho!

I'm just amazed that no-one jumped on me for the methodolgy/providence thing.

Appears like the brown river runs deep in these here parts!!

EDIT FOR JULIET: If a Classic Corvette, a Mousetang, a Bearly-cuda and Poopra all meet at a 4-way stop intersection at exactly the same moment, who has the right of way?

I say there, you gentlemen seem to have misplaced the third member of the Canajun Slap Stick Team, and we aren't talking hockey!

"What does that say on that round thing there!" "Where?" "Right there, you idiot, with the green label" BOOOHK!!!

"Ow, Ow, Ow....Hey, lookie here, when I lift up here, this little thingy goes up and down...heeeeey, it's gone! (Curly lets go of hood)" KERSLAM!!! "Why, you idiot...I ought to...".

(Larry turns key and engine begins to crank with Moe's tie caught in fan belt pulley.) "ARRRGGGH! GAGGGGGGUH! ARRRGGHH!"...BBBRRRRAAAPAPAPAP...RIPPPPP P. (Moe finally gets loose from running engine, and feels top of head which is bald and smoking)

"You idiots, I'm going to kill ya..." (Moe chases Larry and Curly around the Corvette.)

JULIET SUBTITLE: "Excuse me, we're from the Canadian Audubon Society (shows badges with crests). Did you happen to see anyone discharging firearms at Canadian Geese?...They are the large white ones, a protected species you know."

I think the prefered name is the Canajun Slap Schtick Team. I dunno what happened to RonD lately but since he's not around, can we mock him?

and we aren't talking hockey!
Do we wanna go here? Isn't it enough our women's hockey team took Olympic Gold AND our men's hockey team took Olympic Gold? You want more???

edit for Juliet: Why, of course, the Classic Corvette has the right of way. The other cars' drivers would be too busy wiping drool off their chins to drive.

Of course we can...he should stay around to defend himself. Besides, its more fun to talk behind his back and let rumors get back to him. :D :D

I predicted (on another illustrious thread in this here Corvette Forum) that you 'mericans would soon "Love to have The Queen on your money again".

Little did I know that they'd be waving the Maple Leaf flag and singing the entire Canadian National Anthem - O Canada - in The White House last night.... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=252072

So, the conversion of The Excited States of 'merica into the 11th Province is already ahead of schedule. :jester

EDIT FOR JULIET:
Let's start a new business that converts MPH speedos to KPH speedos....gotta get ready for the huge new market that's comin' our way from south of the 49th.

I think the Ronster, aka Moe, is deliberately avoiding talking to you Crazy Canajun Shlap Shtick members. He is, how do you say it?...Disassociating himself from yawl. He probably just thinks it's bad for his image as a "professional restorer". But, ya'know, he has changed and begun acting real serious (and cranky) every since the doctor changed his medicine.

Yawl need to keep him away from firearms, dynamite, sharp pointy objects, heavy blunt objects, not to mention, ammonium nitrate and diesel oil. :D :D :D
