I am posting in 2 places. Here and the C4 general.
There are many places to buy replacement tops. I am going to replace the white vynal top I have now on my 88 with a black cloth top.
I have found, Robins auto top, Pacific corvette, The last detail, Corvette central, Mid America, AAbest, and Ecklers.
The last detail has tops made by Al Knoch. Any one heard of him?
Mid America has 2 choices, the regular stayfast material, and a Heartz material which is supposed to be a little slicker looking. More like what a Mercedes would have.
The rest are all basically regular cloth. I need help. I want a good quality top. Price is secondary. There is really no way to tell which are better quality without seeing them. Or talking to someone who has purchased one.
Anyone have experience with any of these?
Cheapest is Robins @ $281. Most expensive is Pacific @ $399. The Heartz top from Mid America sounds interesting @ $389.
Al Knoch is the best in the business when it comes to Corvette tops and trim, but that's only half of the equation; the key other half is to find a shop that really knows Corvette tops to install it correctly.
Any one know if the tops from "The Last Detail" , which I am told are Al Knoch tops, are the same Al knoch tops that you would get from Al Knoch? Sounds silly but they are cheaper from The Last Detail than from the Al Knoch website
Al Knoch has been around for about 25 years. He is "the source" for correct resto interiors for 53-82 cars. Started in Michigan, then moved to El Paso TX about 10 or so years ago. His "old" stuff is the best available in my opinion, but I know nothing of his C4 and C5 tops and interiors. Chuck
