63 Interior paint advice
Location: Mendon MA 63 SWC Interior colors
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Folks,
I am redoing the interior of my 63 SWC. The color is tan. I am going to use SEM dyes on the vinyl areas. I have just found out that the interior metal trim uses a slightly different color, apparently not a dye. Does anyone know if this paint is available over the counter somewhere? Also, the "halo" requires a metallic tan paint, any ideas? Lastly, the speaker grill and the side vents are a different shade again. Where might I get this one from,
Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
Jim

However for the service and touchup of color dupont made the matching vinyl color.

This is a site with the actual color cards explaining what pieces were colored with what paint as well sheen. Hope this helps

A PO had gone to black on the interior in my '68. Thanks to SEM, they are now back to the original 411 dark blue.
SEM does have a superior bond to all these surfaces mentioned. To get the correct color/sheen may be a bit more problematic.
Since this post is in the factory correct section, the dupont product produces the best color and sheen to original, with a very good bonding ability. Why wouldn't it? That's what was used on the pieces to be painted at the factory.
The only issue IMO would be the seat vinyl. The factory vinyl was made in the color through and through. Don't recall ever seeing a correct car that had dupont colored seat done originally. For this reason I think the SEM is a better product.Only issue being the color match/sheen which a good body shop supplier should be able to provide
Whatever product is used the outcome will only be as good as the prep work.
