I tried to install my quanta replacement belts and have two problems. One they dont fit and two I could not install the belt around the crank with out pulling the pully off.Can you guys slip your belts off the bottom crank pully with out removing it?If your answer is yes then I will assume mine is the wrong one because that would explain why the belt is too short.is there a part number on these pullys I could not see any thing on them.AS Always thanks Larry
The short belt that goes around the crank and water pump pully should be tight and is difficult to install. I usually remove the WP pulley and slide it on with the belt installed.
It always struck me as strange that this belt has no tensioner in this application.
As Wayne says, remove the water pump pulley, wrap the belt around the crank pulley, (it will clear the crossmember indent) and stretch the belt / water pump pulley in place, make sure you have the correct length belt, 1/2" either way either will not make it or be too loose.

Mac:
Spent ten days doing a scratch proof install
ready to test run
filling the radiator
puddle on the leftside floor
head crack
Head is back in St Louis to be repaired, cracled wjen torqued. They were pressure tested to 110 and passed. cracked in the #5 bolt spotface, easy repair

Better to find out now than after your first drive, I suppose, but annoying nevertheless. Guess you don't know your own strength or was it the wife swinging the torque wrench? :D
Actually it was the engine builder that torqued it down and cracked it. I was hoping that it was leaking from the #5 bolt ho;e and simply needed sealing, removed the bolt twice, cleaned everything up, resealed and torqued only to have the leak increase each time....clue there, live and learn
