Default 79 Seat Track Question?

Hey all,

Just finished re-doing my seats.. Question is which seat track is the one for the passenger side and which is the one for the drivers side? The one seat track is flat and the other is different.. I didn't pay attention when i pulled them out at the time and now i am ready to re-install them and want it to get it right.

Here are a few pics of what i mean they aren't the best pics.. They were taken with my iphone..

79 AIM isn't much help. It shows two pair of the same tracks.

A similar illustration is shown for cars without T/T, but the track part numbers are different.

Out of curiosity, do you know if you have the original seats, or seat tracks, for the car?

I'll look at one of my Corvette Parts Books tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure that 78-80 "clam shell" seats only had one pair of tracks, for both seats.

Unlike 78-80 seats, the 81-82's did had different tracks for the driver and passenger seats. This was because the floor was changed on the drivers side in 81, to make room for the motor of the optional power driver's side seat. On 81-82's without the power seat, the driver's side manual seat tracks were taller, to make up for the deeper floor under the driver's seat.

Is it possible that you have 81-82 seat tracks? This would explain the differences in your 2 sets of tracks.

Know this thread is a month old, but FWIW my 78PC seat tracks match the ones pictured as well as in the AIM.

I've swapped them and my seats look a bit slanted when viewed from the rear, the inside of each seat being slightly lower than the outside.

Now that I've had the seats out for restoration purposes, I intend to put them right. Hopefully that will fix it.

In other words, the seat tracks that have the risers (and front bolt goes in from the top of the FG bucket) should on the passenger.
