"L 10 6" is the casting date, December 10, 1966, but I'm having a hard time figuring out where that date is. Is it the block?

67 Corvette VIN 08492 was built approximately January 19, 1967. The upper left corner of the trim tag should have a letter and number indicating the body build date, but your photo only shows the right side of the tag, so I can't match that to the VIN.

It's hard to read the full stamp pad, but it appears the engine assembly date is 0112, January 12, 1967. I can't comment on the authenticity of the pad, except to say that it's hard to tell if there are broach marks present, and the quality of the photo makes it difficult to judge the engine stamp/suffix code.

The final casting date shown is September 20, 1966 "I 20 6".

cast iron intake, which means its a 390hp car. IM code on the pad means it's a 390hp, 4 speed SMOG car. Nice.

I have a 1967 coupe with a 427/435 engine. The date code difference between my car and engine is 120 days which seems very unusual but I looked at the 427 survey in Noland's book
and it appears that several of the cars in my VIN range had 120+ days between the engine date code and VIN. My car has A.I.R. (K19), I'm wondering if they built a batch of engines and took a while for the demand to catch up?

it would be best to start a new thread. but in short a period motor would be a engine that has a casting date before the cars build date
