Default Vette engine

I’m checking out a ‘70 coupe for sale locally, pics look good, have yet to see it in person. It’s got a replacement engine, casting 3970010, suffix CEA 199739. Can’t seem to find any info regarding the CEA other than I know CE indicates a replacement engine. Thx for any intell.

This is what I know about this.

C= Chevy
E= Engine
A= Several theories best I think is Shift "A"= 1st
1= Year
99739= Sequence produced

Here is a chart about that but your sequence of 99739 does not fit maybe misread buy owner. But it still maybe helpful.

Thx for the replies. I was aware of the CE , but couldn’t find any info on the ‘A’ in the suffix. The 1 could be 1971, as the seller thought it was a warranty replacement engine. I know the rest of the sequence is an unknown. The Vette sold before I could get a chance to go over it.
