Default Bye All

Well, I guess I will follow everyone else over to the other site. It has been fun, but doesn't look like there are many left. Everybody feel free to email me at the address on my profile, but I probably won't be logging on much, so an IM may go unanswered for quite a while.

If it's not a deep dark secret, why is everybody leaving here and where are they going?

Vetteheads. Great site. Advertisement free very cool features. I.E. Virtual Judging school, What's this wreck worth, Virtual restoration, etc, etc, etc. some of the most knowledgeable Corvette people in the hobby. Best $20.00 I've ever spent.

Yadayadayada.... but "Vetteheads" is not the right answer. Duntov slipped in the initials up there but some of you missed it. Nice enough forum over there but I really don't like the software, ie the look and function of the forums. To each his/her/their own. MJ

The biggest difference personally is the number of active users and posts with CAC lagging behind. There are more active users here.

Damn guys, I never heard of the other site until I saw this post, but I don't see what's wrong with this 'un. Seems like there are a ton of knowledgeable, helpful people here, and I like the general enviroment the moderators maintain. Hate to see you guys leave a good site.

And you can't even have a look without giving them a Paypal number that's cancellable within 10 days if you don't like it???????? Damn, I've seen porno sites with better deals than that. I don't see it happening for me. I'm a payin' member on two other websites, one boat related, and the other Team Chevelle, but in both cases it's optional. I think I'll stay parked here.

One other generic comment: I notice on their homepage that they're stressing freedom of speech and implying little if any moderation. In co-moderating another board myself, one thing I've come to be sure of is, if there are no rules for behaviour or enforcement, petty bickering breaks out to the point of being destructive to the atmosphere.

The grass ain't always greener over there. I hope the real vette people stay at corvette forum. It's home to me.
My only issue with corvetteforum is the "heirarchy" assumed by members with more post counts than others. Some assume since someone may have thousands of posts and all the little stars by there name that they are more knowledgable or held in higher regard. Doesn't seem to matter that they have built up there post count .02 cents at a time in OT or the old Babes section with a smiley on every single reply.

Anyway, I hope vetteheads doesn't take away a lot of the Corvette knowledge base from here. I've enjoyed this site everyday for over 3 years, learned a lot, and made friends all over the country.

Jeff, it's not vetteheads.

Solidlifters, I will still be playing here. One of the reasons for staying is the wealth of knowledge possessed by the members here, especially yours ad Rowdy Rat's pertaining to the LT-1 and other rare cars.

The site doesn't ask for a PayPal account and I don;t even have one, so we may be crossing sites.

As I mentioned before, the volume of posts there is far less than here.

As for why the departure of many members, there are several reasons that I won't go into here but can if you IM me.

Robert, I agree with you on Rowdy. His stuff is always worth reading and I almost always learn or remember something forgotten when he posts. As for me, I'm just a car nut that started buying stuff in my 30's that I wanted and couldn't afford in my teens and 20's and have paid attention as I've I've taken a lot of it apart and put it back together, but unfortunately the 50's are settin' in now and a lot of it's being lost to abscent mindedness.

There are a number of other people around here that I enjoy reading as much as I do Rowdy also. Unfortunately, there's one member in particular with an attitude, whose remarks I find particularly distasteful, but I've kept it to myself. I'm finding out now that other people have limited their participation here because of the antics of this person. I find that most unfortunate. I'm not going to let one bad apple ruin my enthusiasm for a site that I think otherwise is way above average. I hope some of you guys will take a deep breath and feel the same way.
