63 Valve Covers

63 Valve Covers
The valve covers on my car have the finned aluminum covers. They also have the casting flaw (and they are repo's) with the line across them and thru the "o" in Corvette.
According to what I have read the flaw was only in 1967. Can anyone confirm that?

I believe that the mold broke sometime in 1966. Thus, valve covers cast after that period will have the "flaw" over the O. So, if I remember correctly, late 66 and all 67 Corvette's will have the "flaw" from the factory. The covers that you currently have aren't repro's. You can still buy them today from GM I believe. The current covers still have the casting flaw.
The covers for your 63 should not have the flaw. You can find nice used ones at flea markets. :) Chuck

Once again, thanks Chuck. Got the NCRS judging manual today and of course there it was in black & white. Interesting to see your name in there also!
