Default Numbers and dates

My car was born mid January in 1966.WHat is the time window on the correct date for the engine block?Does the intake, heads, etc. have to have the same date aas the block in order to be correct or is there a window there? And what would a ballpark be for the cost of a 942 4 bolt block?I have found a December block but...Ugh....not cheap.Thank guys for the help. :flag

For NCRS judging, the casting dates must not precede the car's final assembly date by more than six months, and obviously the casting dates must be prior to the engine assembly date stamped on the front pad. Casting dates on the major components (block, heads, intake, etc.) do not have to match, and only very rarely do they ever match; on original engines they were generally within a few days or weeks of each other, but the six-month rule applies to all dated components (except glass, which can be up to a year prior to the car's final assembly date).
