Default D&M Corvette

Has anyone bought or sold a car through D&M? This is the D&M in Downers Grove.

If so, how did you like it? Who did you work with?

Had our car there on consignment for 7 months and met 3 seperate guys who were looking at the car while it was in their shop.

Stories were all the same and blew me away.

If you wish, you can PM me your story.
Might be looking into a lawyer since the stories were that shocking. The guys were so upset they gave me all their info incase I wanted to follow up later.

Thanks,
Rick

Wow

That surprises me.

I have never sold a car there but I have used their services from time to time.

I have had nothing bad happen to me, nor heard anything bad about them.

Sorry to hear about your problem.

This is in the sales shop, not the body shop.
I know Kerry and Pete K. personally, and they are top notch guys. Actuallty, they are the only guys I will talk to from there from now on.

I had a very bad experience with the service shop. They lowballed me on a clutch job (turned out to more than double the estimate) and had the car for 2 weeks. Never again.

Default My Experience

Went there once for routine work and a detail on my C5. The final bill was 25% more than what I was originally quoted. The Vette tax is alive and well at D&M. Over-priced and lousy detail work. Never went back.

D&M Corvette Specialist in Downers Grove seems to be OK.

I've been there, as has my father-in-law, many times. In fact my ather-in-law bought his 2001 there last fall and it has been great.

I've always talked with Rich (sales) and Thomas (service).

I do know there is another D&M out there that has some bad stories.

I'd love to hear some of your stories. If you don't want to post, PM them.

D&M Motorsports in Glendale Heights does not do service work. They mainly sell good quality used cars. But don't have a service department.

I called D&M a couple times over the years for quotes on service work. In both cases they were almost twice the cost of other shops. Somebody should remind D&M the Corvette is a Chevrolet, not a Ferrari.

bought my first vette at D and M this winter. An impulse buy to spice up our married life. An 02 coupe.Paid premium for it.It looked great. put it in storage for a couple months..got it out this spring and to the shop for some scheduled maintenance, found out it had been wrecked! Some paint overspray, pimped out with neon street lights, a screwed up car alarm that goes off at will, misaligned hood and headlight, front right tire completely wore out in first 3000 miles due to screwed up front end..called them about it, they were indifferent but they said maybe they could move me into a different vette.. took the car back there..they tried to tell me that they couldn't see the car had been wrecked! tried to sell me an 04 for way to much and give me 5000 less than I paid for my 02. They had all the salesmen and owners looking at my car, but nobody wanted to try to make things right..I left there pissed off..one of the knuckleheads forgot to give me back my spare set of keys..It took me 8 phonecalls and 2 months to get them to send my keys back..then the idiots sent them in a cheap envelope and they got lost in the mail...!! these guys are idiots!! I wouldn't send my worst enemy there..I'm slowly and expensively nursing that piece of **** car into a fine automobile that my family can be proud to ride in..I won't let those ******** at DandM ruin our first corvette experience!!

Default D&M Corvette Horrible Experience

My father had some body work done at D&M Corvette the quality was awful the paint did not match. My father is 67 years old and had gone to the service mechanic for over 9 years at D&M with no issues...when this issue came up they left my father high and dry..they would not even return our phone calls..the situation was never fixed..we are left with the stain of poor workmanship on our car. If they treat a customer who had gone there for 9 yrs this way and who is 67 years old..I think this tells you what your dealing with...just hope everything goes right and you have zero issues...if you do have an issue I can say we were treated awful:nono ::no no:: nono::ack ::

tried to buy my 2nd vette there in 00. It was a fixed coupe with about 1800 miles, sweet car. They lowballed my trade and wouldn't budge. That is until i got home and the phone rang, they wanted to deal.
Problem was i stopped at woodfield chevy and bought a new 00 for a better price then the used one.
By the way woodfield chevy sucks also.

Yep, it pays to have a car inspected before you buy...tough lesson learned.

Wow, glad this thread came up. I had no idea that D&M had such bad business practices.

No offense, but you should have looked at the car a little closer before you "paid a premium" for it.

Wow first post to the forum and you bash a well know local vendor. I call There are two sides to every story. You side is very vague. I know of several instances where problems surfaced and they did all they could to make it right. Please tell the whole story and lets see if we can get you some help. Also good job digging up a year old thread.

Totally agree with you but at the same time the "corvette specialists" should have been honest about the car they were selling.

I visited them once and right away got a bad vibe from the people and walked out.
