HP Performance = WOW!!
Just got my Z upgraded from HP Performance Corvettes with the following mods:
- LG GT2 Coil Overs
- RPS Carbon Twin Billet Clutch
- Phadt Competition Sway Bars with Quiet End links
Jimmy at HP Performance did a outstanding, absolutely perfect job - I am extremely picky about the work done on my Corvettes - I mean to the point beyond belief. Jimmy and Craig's commitment to quality is unmatched. My car came off the rack absolutely perfect, and I mean perfect. If you have ever see coil overs installed (Along with the sways (i.e. -Whole suspension), you know how touchy the car is in each of its corners and the balance of the entire car. Jimmy measured everything countless times to ensure that my car is spot on in all regards. Everything Jimmy did was precisely measured where the car is absolutely perfect. This is not an easy task and to get it right takes a lot of time, meticulous commitment to detail and quality to get the resulting end product that I have in my Z.
I want to thank Craig and Jimmy for all of their hard work. To say they go above and beyond for a customer is an understatement. They have the best shop in the Midwest IMHO, and do it right - One car at a time (Meaning you car gets finished before another gets started). Plus, my project came in under what we initially thought the cost would be for installation - How great is that
If you are looking for the shop to take your car to for mods, maintenance (whether it is completely stock or modified) I highly recommend HP Performance. I can not say enough great things about them - Stand up shop with two outstanding stand up guys.
Thanks again Jimmy and Craig.

The bottom line is HP Performance did a great job. That is what I am so excited about. I am proud of the car, just as everyone else is on this forum.
I called to get quotes from other shops in the midwest... Bottom line is that not only was HP's price below what was quoted, but I felt most comfortable with them after talking to each shop in length. Plus, not only was the quote below the other shops, but the nfinal bill was less than what their quote was! Not very often do you see that... Plus, I actually got to walk back and look at my car while they were working on it, which most shops do not do either.
The best way to put it is - Come see my car and take a look at the work - It speaks volumes the HP Performance's commitment to qualtiy and their finished products.
If anyone is looking for top value for each dollar they spend, I highly recommend HP Performance - Great work, Great Service, Two stand up guys in Jimmy and Craig - Thanbks again HP

See you in a couple weeks!
As far as the show - I asked HP Performance to put the exotics on the pavament in the front (That was the first show - two years ago). That was not their doing... The main reason for it was that I promised their club president that they could park up front. The show was a customer appreciation show and open house so there were a lot of guys that were parked up front as well that are customers of HP - I know not everyone got to park up front so I am sorry... I organized it and I did not park up front either....
We will have the parking the same as last years event, with first come first serve parking

1) I have been going to HP Performance for years. Its more than a shop...its a "Man Cave". Let me explain; I have throughout my car life, have had plenty of relationships with shops, but NEVER, has there been a shop like HP Performance where can you stop by any Satuday morning year round and just hang out with other vette guys and just shoot the crap and have a dounut...not some saturdays, not a lot of saturdays..EVERY saturday. Craig welcomes you like its his home and treats your car like gold. Furthermore, they are a complete shop; they have done plenty of work on my vette, but they have also done work on my Trailblazer SS and even my Subaru Sti. Not to mention to outside relationships Craig has developed with other services that come to the shop. He has a door ding guy that comes over as well as one of the best tinters in the area. Soup to nuts!!
2) Yes, Kevin was the wrench at HPs in the past and he did great work. However, do you think its easy work to be the administration of the business as Craig has been. Its not fair or accurate to say there was a single "heart" at the shop. The bottom line is Kevin has gone and Jimmy is there. In the months that Jimmy has been turning the wrench, he also has done excellent work. You cant dwell on past, just look to the future. Things change in life sometimes. I will continue to support them.
3) As far as the "Exotics" in the front at the open house...umm that was not because Craig would prefer to see them over vettes. The fact is, the exotic club that attends each years has requested to get those spots in order to make the trip. These guys drive a good distance and have beautiful cars....so whats the big deal?? Are you saying there were no spots for you?? I dont think so...we had Hundreds of cars and everyone had a GREAT time every year. Heck, the HP regulars didn't bitch about it, not sure why you are??
4) In conclusion, I miss Kevin at the shop but times change. It was simply too much for one guy to work full time at Libertyville and then spend his entire weekend at HPs. He needs to have a life too. Craig is committed to his customers and thier cars. Jimmy is commited to the highest level service he can provide. To me, HP Performance is much more than just a place to have work done. They will do everything to ensure thier customers are happy.
5) As far as "notification". I knew...The guys that hang out at the shop knew. (Perfectlyfrank)...umm when was the last time you showed up at the shop??? I haven't seen you in a year??
Thank You HP Performance!!
1. My first visit to HP a couple of years ago was with my brotherinlaw who is a customer of Jimmy's. He has a Buick Grand National that needed transmission work done. That's why he went to Jimmy's. We went to the front of the building where the action was and talked with a bunch of guys that were there talking about their vetts. It was great. They seemed like a good group of guys. But Craig - didn't give me the time of day. I didn't have a vett at that time. Maybe that's why or because he couldn't answer my questions. (I'm all about the details) Said he had to ask Kevin several times.
2. After messaging with a some of the guys here and a little research, I'm not sure I can take my "baby" to a shop where alot of the work is done by an "administrator" or other shops or a good mechanic who's experience and expertise is with the transmissions of Buick Grand Nationals.
This is just my opinion but there's several shops within the Chicago area where there's real experience and expertise in the service and modifications of Corvettes. I'll keep shopping. Oh and when I called HP in early March and asked to talk to Kevin, I was told by Craig, who answered the phone that Kevin was busy and could he help me. I didn't leave a message but said I'd call back. Then I find out Kevin left the shop in January or February. He could have at least been honest about that.

For other posters to use this as a platform to provide negative comments with the intent to harm is; classless and offensive...and I will be happy to advise you of that when I see you at Libertyville's open house.
