ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Are community members and their families safer with a gun in their home? That's the main topic of discussion at a debate that will take place this weekend.

Rockford community is invited to attend this Oxford-Style Debate to help determine the best ways to keep residents safe.

"An understanding of where gun safety is coming from the correct use of a weapon and how safe it is." Co-sponsors of the debate Stanley Campbell said. "These are questions that I think many people here in Rockford have on their minds."

The debate will last for approximately one hour. The moderator will ask written questions from the audience for an additional 1/2 hour. The ushers will give everyone a card and pencil for these questions. Audience members will be asked to vote on their opinion by secret ballot after the debate.

The event will take place this Saturday, November 16, 2013, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the University of Illinois Rockford located at 1601 Parkview Ave from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

There is a limit of 150 seats. Tickets are free and available at Just Goods, 201 7th St., Rockford, IL 61104. Hours: Mon. - Sat. 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Fridays until 9:00 pm.

I completed all my IL CCW training requirements as of today and received the same as posted by PFrank above.

I have been waiting for this for 31 years and it should just be a matter of several months now (hopefully April 2014).
