I had 28mph over in Cook County last fall when I test drove my first C5Z.

I hired a lawyer and got off with a fine and a supervision. If I didn't have a lawyer, I'm sure I would have been screwed because I was already on a supervision from a wheelie ticket few months prior.

Hire a lawyer and he/she should be able to get it taken care of if your record is somewhat decent. PM me if you need a lawyer recommendation.

I've been driving that way every day for the past 2 months to go to the Hines VA Hospital. As a retired police officer, I've learned many things during my commute.
1. If you're not driving at least 75 mph, you get run over.
2. If you try to go the speed limit in a construction zone, people will flash their lights at you or flip you off.
3. If I had a nickel for every car that I've seen change lanes, get off or on an entrance ramp without signaling, I'd be a wealthy man.
4. The number of people I've seen talking on hand held cell phones is unbelievable.
5. The number of people I've seen texting, putting on makeup, reading newspapers, etc. while driving 75 mph boggles my mind.
6. The outside 2 lanes are no longer for trucks. They seem to drive in whatever lane they want now.
7. Driving on the shoulder is no longer just for emergency vehicles.

I did see a little poetic justice in action last week. A young man in a Nissan with a fart can exhaust passed me on 290 like I was standing still. When I got a few miles up the road, he had rear ended another car.

DevilDogII you are definetly coorect about all of the things you listed. I though there was some talk of raising the speed limit? Nobody is doing 55mph on the highway. Something must be up though I am seeing alot more sheriffs on the road this year then before. Last night on the 94 I saw a unmarked tinted windows tahoe on the side of the road. Had somebody pulled over. If his lights were not on flashing I would have never guessed that was cop car.

Except for the poor person who wasnt doing anything wrong, that the asshat plowed into. Its always the drunks and azzholes that survive and good people die from this type of wretched driving.

No one is even doing close to 55, or 65 or 75. The average speed is low 80s, thats a given statistical fact and I cant say where I got it from.

You sure it was a tahoe and not a newer ford interceptor suv??? White with the old man hubcaps on it?

I've seen a few mustangs and other random cars pulling people over. What sucks is they have normal illinois plates and hidden lights.

Speed limit for me is usually 70-80 mph, just flowing with traffic in the left lane.

Cook is definitely a bonus but occasionally you'll get the traffic judge with itchy hemorrhoids that day and they can be asshats for sure.

I don't have much experience in Skokie but Meadows traffic judges usually roll over if you have an attorney.

Could of been a ford not sure the windows where tinted limo black and the lights were inside in the rear. Maligator I work in a trauma one hospital and scan all the pts. that come in. Maligator you are right 7 out of 10 times the drunk driver survives and the innocent die. Even though obviously I sped Myself and broke the law I have no qualms about being busted and ticketed. If the law was not out there doing there job our highways and streets would be 10x more dangerous then they are now.

But its still a god damn zoo no matter what we do............Everyday I shake my head while working, and thats after 13 years on the job. Had a guy the other day rock me (literally, my squad shook) when I was stopping for a disabled car at 83mph. I was on the left shoulder and he was in lane 1 of 4, didnt move over, didnt slow down and just didnt give a sht when I finally caught up to him.................this society is really jacked beyond any fixing

I spent 37 years in law enforcement and I see things today that still amaze me. It seems that everyone is in such a hurry and only care about themselves. I saw a woman talking on a hand held cell phone the other day in a school zone and thought if someone hit one of her kids while talking on the phone, she'd be livid. I'm glad I retired. I don't have the patience anymore to deal with knuckleheads. You're correct. This society is beyond fixing and it's only going to get worse. Be safe out there.

Just wanted to give you guys an update of the outcome of my tickets. I had my court date yesterday and they dropped the 2 tickets for the expired insurance card and illegal lane changes (no signal). The misdemeanor aggravated speeding charge they refused to drop or reduce to just a regular speeding citation. Prosecutor said that I had to many speeding charges (non convictions just supervisions) in my record and refused to bring charges down. So, they convicted me on the misdemeanor and tacked on a $300 fine+ $194 court costs. Not to mention what I paid the lawyer. I got shafted real good! So a word to the wise be careful if your thinking about smashing that accelerator on the street it could cost you big.

Damn Toppthat then I guess the fine iI paid was not to high cause I was doing 97mph in a 55mph. I expected to pay alot truthfully thought the fine would be more but did not expect the conviction.

It was around 400 with the lawyer and 6 mo. Probation. I really doubt the lawyer helped much,he got the speed reduced for a lower fine. For yours I really think your lawyer did great.

Yeah he did ok. The only thing I wish he could of got that conviction reduced to a supervision. Now I have a misdemeanor crime in my record that will follow me around.
